Spotlight of the Month – October 2016 – Mrs. Sweetser
Mr Kasper writes….
“Principal Rhonda Sweetser was born, grew up, attended school and graduated all right here in Hayden. She obtained her BA in Elem. Education in 1987 at Western State College and spent the next 18 years teaching at Hayden Valley Elem. She achieved her 1st Master’s degree in Elem. Education, from the Grand Canyon University in 2000, and her next Master’s Degree in School Administration came in 2015 at Western State College. She and her husband Cody raised two children and are now very proud grandparents.
Rhonda has seen many changes in public education during her career, but has always felt that having student centered classrooms and providing teachers an opportunity to work in a collaborative manner has been the foundation of her success as a leader. Professionally, Principal Sweetser is extremely knowledgeable of the power of Professional Learning Communities, and HVE has some exemplary collaborative PLC processes that are noteworthy to any aspiring principal. Her attention to detail and record keeping is remarkable. The school is very well run with safety as a high priority.
As her supervisor my appreciation of Principal Sweetser, goes beyond her professional qualities and recognizes the person herself. Rhonda leads by example; she works long hours and is available for her teachers and parents. She is present for every school function as well as many of the student activities that lead her into the surrounding communities in support of students. She is a tireless advocate for the needs of HVE.”
